Austin Montessori School in Austin, TX, is accepting applications for an AMI-trained Elementary Guide temporary position to cover a Guide’s family leave for the Spring 2025 semester, January 6-May 30, 2025.
The Guide will lead a well-established 9-12 Upper Elementary community and will join a supportive and experienced team made up of the Elementary Director and faculty, the school and parent community, and a dedicated Assistant.
Qualifications
● AMI elementary diploma from an AMI training center.
● Experience guiding a 9-12 or 6-12 community is highly preferred.
● A commitment to education as a means for human development.
Areas of responsibility
● Exhibit reverence, belief, and trust in each child.
● Ensure quality AMI Montessori lessons are planned and given in accordance with AMI Elementary training and observation in a wide variety of subject areas.
● Team-lead a 2-night camping trip.
● Maintain an AMI elementary Montessori-prepared environment.
● Facilitate a community based on freedom and responsibility.
● Ensure respect and safety for every child within the community.
● Ensure respect for and provide for individual learning differences.
● Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Established in 1967 by Donna Bryant Goertz (author of Children Who Are Not Yet Peaceful), Austin Montessori School is the oldest accredited Association Montessori Internationale institution (AMI) in the Austin area. We serve children and adolescents ages 15 months -15 years, with four Assistance to Infancy classes, six Children’s Houses, three lower elementary classes, two upper elementary classes, and an Adolescent Community.
